Security Consultation

Price: £2,000 (excl. VAT), one-time engagement

Has your organisation seriously thought about its security posture? Do you have a clear picture of what taking a holistic look at your organisation's security would even entail? For organisations that need a one-time assessment of their security strategy, or who wish to experience the value of security leadership before committing to an ongoing retainer service, our Security Consultation service provides an accessible starting point.

A Fresh Perspective

Many organisations have never had the opportunity to sit down with experienced security professionals and discuss their organisation as a whole. New software is adopted, suppliers are engaged, infrastructure evolves, responsibilities shift, and processes emerge organically. Individually, these decisions may be sensible. Collectively, they can create security challenges that nobody within the organisation has had the time or perspective to identify.

A Security Consultation is that missing look: a single, structured engagement in which we examine your organisation as a whole and tell you, plainly, where you stand. Most organisations cannot name their biggest security risk, and the reason is rarely carelessness - the dangerous gaps are the ones nobody has thought to look at. We will work with your staff to understand your current systems and processes, and how those intersect with your priorities and day-to-day operations. We take a broad view of your organisation and the factors shaping its security, rather than focus on a single technical system or compliance requirement.

What You Will Receive

A Security Consultation centres around a structured discussion with your leadership team, either remotely or on-site, with us reviewing whatever you send us beforehand. It is a working session rather than a presentation: we combine our security expertise with your knowledge of how the business actually runs, and you are encouraged to push back throughout. Afterwards you receive a written summary - your strengths, your weaknesses, the priorities we would address first, and concrete next steps. The goal is practical guidance that can inform decision-making directly, with focus on the greatest real-world concerns.

The Questions No One Has Asked

The value of a consultation is largely in asking questions your organisation may never have considered. Have your backups ever actually been tested? How would your staff actually respond to a phishing attempt? Have you considered whether your multi-factor authentication could be bypassed? What information could attackers learn about your organisation online? How does your web presence authenticate users? How much of your organisation can a stranger reconstruct from your website and Companies House before lunch? Do you have any process at all for the personal devices your staff already use for work? None of these are trick questions, and most organisations have never sat down to answer them. We bring the ones that matter for your particular operation, and the answers are usually more interesting than anyone expected.

Who Is This For?

This service is particularly well suited to SMEs that have never previously engaged with dedicated security leadership. For some organisations, a consultation may be sufficient to identify and address their most significant security concerns. For others, it may serve as the foundation for a more comprehensive security programme. In either case, the objective is the same: to leave the organisation with a clearer understanding of its security challenges, priorities, and opportunities.

A Leadership Stepping Stone

Our Security Consultation service is a standalone service, but clients who find our services valuable may be interested in one of the retainer services under our Fractional Leadership offerings, such as a Security Advisor retainer. If you subsequently contract any of our other Fractional Leadership retainer services within 90 days, we will discount the cost of your Security Consultation from your retainer. For the Security Advisor retainer, this amounts to receiving the first month of service for free.
